CHARLIE WU PIANIST

Melbourne-born Charlie Wu is a scholarship student, and Concertmaster of the School Orchestra at Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne, Australia. He studies piano with Glenn Riddle.
In 2025, Charlie won 1st prize in the Concours International Musicale de Genève in Switzerland, performing Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D with Les Solistes de Neuchâtel, conducted by Sergey Ostrovsky. Other concerto performances in 2025 included Liszt’s Piano Concerto No 2 with Melbourne Sinfonia, and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No 3 with Camerata Orchestra, where he won 1st Prize in the Boroondara Open Concerto Competition. He also won the Musical Society of Victoria’s prestigious Nehama Patkin, and Edith Schurmann Awards.
In 2024, Charlie made his concerto debut performing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto in G minor with the Russian State Academic Symphony Orchestra in Moscow, conducted by Ivan Nikiforchin, where he was a Diplomate in the Grand Piano Competition. 2024 also saw Charlie performing Mendelssohn’s concerto with the Preston Symphony and Whitehorse Symphony orchestras, as well as Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Cloud Concert Orchestra.
In 2026 Charlie has been invited to perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No 3 with the Maroondah Symphony Orchestra and perform a solo recital as part of the Camberwell Music Society’s Subscription Concert Series.
In 2024 Charlie was also awarded his LMusA (Distinction) from the Australian Music Examinations Board. He is a keen chamber musician, and enjoys playing tennis, swimming, debating and chess.

At this recital Charlie will perform works by Chopin, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Granados and more.
