SINGERS DANIELLE ZUCCALA & MICHAEL ZUCCALA

Danielle, a mezzo soprano ,and her twin brother Michael, a baritone, hold music degrees from Melbourne University. Their program for the Austral Salon includes opera, lieder and song cycles by Mozart, Schubert, Elgar, Korngold and more.

Danielle is currently studying her Honours in Musical Performance at the University of Melbourne and is under the tutelage of Anna Connolly. She has performed with multiple opera companies throughout Melbourne including, The Victorian Opera Company, Victorian Opera Youth Chorus (VOYCE), The Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria (GSOV), Cordelia’s Potted Opera’s and Savoy Opera Company. She has also performed with the companies Sacred Stage, The Knack Theatre Company and has been in multiple short films. She is excited to be returning to Austral Salon for her second recital with them, this time alongside her twin brother, Michael.

Michael, a baritone, has been singing for well over a decade now, first taking formal singing lessons at the age of 9. He currently receives singing lessons with acclaimed musical theatre and operatic vocalist Carrie Barr. Michael has performed in a number of different roles and choruses, including GSOV’s production of Die Flaudermaus where he played the role of Dr Falke, Victorian Opera’s young artists program chorus for Cheryomushki and English Eccentrics and is currently performing as a scholar with the Melbourne Bach Choir. Michael intends to continue his musical studies, refining his singing and performance skills with the hope of taking his passion to the professional level.
