Sunday Afternoon Concert

JAMES EMERSON BARITONE, AMELIA WAWRZON SOPRANO & MEYREM OGUTVEREN PIANIST

James Emerson is a Bass-Baritone, who has performed in professional productions with Victorian Opera and Opera Australia. At only twenty years old, James has won awards from many Eisteddfods and competitions and recently was a finalist in the National Liederfest competition.
James is currently in his final year of a Bachelor of Music, specialising in Classical Voice and Performance at The University of Melbourne and is aiming to pursue a career as a professional singer specialising in opera, art song and musical theatre.

Meyrem Ogutveren is entering her final year of study at the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Music (Degree with Honours). Under the tutelage of Ronald Farren-Price, she has taken a passionate and driven journey to improve her skills as a pianist and musician - technically and musically, and as a teacher. While here, she discovered her love for the Romantic piano literature, particularly those of Franz Liszt and Sergei Rachmaninov, as well as repertoire related to the evocation of water.

Amelia Wawrzon is a classically-trained soprano currently undertaking a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Her performance highlights include “The Magic Pudding” (Victorian Opera), as a soloist at the MCG Boxing Day Test in 2015, the MCM Mozart Project scenes from “The Marriage of Figaro” (Susanna) and as a soloist at White Night Melbourne 2018 on the balcony of the Melbourne Town Hall.
Following an international study exchange at Royal Holloway University of London, Amelia is looking forward to her full-scale opera debut with the role of Sister Constance in the VCA and MCM’s production of Dialogues des Carmélites in late August.
